NOAA-12, originally designated NOAA D, was the fifth operational satellite in the Advanced TIROS-N series. Launched on 1991-05-14, its AVHRR/2, TOVS, and solar proton monitor supported polar-orbiting atmospheric and environmental observations for NOAA; the satellite was decommissioned on 2007-08-10 after more than 16 years of service.
