NOAA-19 was the final fifth-generation POES spacecraft, launched on February 6, 2009. Its AVHRR/3 imager, atmospheric sounders and ozone and space-environment instruments supported weather and climate observations, while its relay payloads served data collection and search and rescue. NOAA decommissioned the spacecraft on August 13, 2025 after more than sixteen years in orbit. The mission forms part of the long environmental record succeeded operationally by the Joint Polar Satellite System.
