OrbView-3
OrbView-3 was a commercial Earth-imaging satellite operated first by ORBIMAGE and later GeoEye. It collected one-meter panchromatic and four-meter multispectral imagery from a Sun-synchronous orbit for mapping, environmental, commercial, and government applications, becoming an early operational source of high-resolution commercial satellite imagery.

- OrbView-3 returned global imagery from 2003 until a single-string camera-electronics unit failed in March 2007. After troubleshooting could not restore usable imaging, GeoEye declared the satellite permanently out of service on April 23, short of its five-year design life. Its unrestricted archive remains available through USGS, and controllers safely deorbited the spacecraft over the Pacific on March 13, 2011.
