Outcome
OrbView-3 returned global imagery from 2003 until a single-string camera-electronics unit failed in March 2007. After troubleshooting could not restore usable imaging, GeoEye declared the satellite permanently out of service on April 23, short of its five-year design life. Its unrestricted archive remains available through USGS, and controllers safely deorbited the spacecraft over the Pacific on March 13, 2011.
