Orion Exploration Flight Test-1

Exploration Flight Test-1 was Orion's first spaceflight, an uncrewed two-orbit engineering mission launched on a Delta IV Heavy from Cape Canaveral's Space Launch Complex 37B on December 5, 2014. A high-fidelity crew module and mock service module tested spacecraft systems and critical separation events. The rocket's upper stage raised the flight to about 3,600 miles before Orion returned at high speed to test atmospheric entry and Pacific recovery.
