Ranger 2

Ranger 2 was NASA’s second Block I Ranger test mission, intended to validate technologies and conduct experiments in a highly elliptical Earth orbit beyond the Moon. An Agena roll-control gyroscope failure prevented the second burn, leaving the spacecraft in low Earth orbit until it lost power and reentered on November 19, 1961.
