Sentinel-1A is the first satellite of the Copernicus Sentinel-1 mission, launched on 3 April 2014 on Soyuz VS07 from Kourou. Its C-band synthetic-aperture radar provides all-weather, day-and-night imagery for sea-ice, marine, land-motion, environmental, and disaster-response monitoring.
