Soyuz 39 was the Soviet-Mongolian Interkosmos visiting mission to Salyut 6. Vladimir Dzhanibekov and Jügderdemidiin Gürragchaa launched from Baikonur Site 31/6 on March 22, 1981, docked with Salyut 6 on March 23, and worked with the resident station crew during the final phase of Salyut 6 operations. Spacefacts lists Dzhanibekov as commander and Gürragchaa as research cosmonaut, with a mission duration of 7 days, 20 hours, 42 minutes, and 3 seconds across 124 orbits. The flight carried out Earth-science, materials, cosmic-radiation, atmosphere, viewport, and station-environment experiments, including work focused on observations of Mongolia from orbit. The mission made Gürragchaa Mongolia's first person in space. The Office of the President of Mongolia later described the flight as placing Mongolia among the first ten countries to send a person into space and recognized the mission's role in opening a path for Mongolian space research. Soyuz 39 undocked and landed southeast of Dzhezkazgan on March 30, 1981.
