Soyuz MS-16 launched from Baikonur Site 31/6 on April 9, 2020 UTC with Roscosmos commander Anatoli Ivanishin, Roscosmos flight engineer Ivan Vagner, and NASA flight engineer Christopher Cassidy. It was the first crewed launch using the Soyuz-2.1a rocket. The spacecraft docked with the International Space Station's Poisk module later that day, joining the Expedition 62 handover before its crew continued into Expedition 63. MS-16 undocked on October 21 UTC and landed in Kazakhstan on October 22 with the same three crewmembers.
