Soyuz MS-22

Soyuz MS-22 was the September 2022 Soyuz crew flight that launched Roscosmos cosmonauts Sergei Prokopyev and Dmitri Petelin with NASA astronaut Frank Rubio from Baikonur to the International Space Station. The spacecraft docked with the station's Rassvet module later the same day, beginning a long-duration Expedition increment for the three-person crew. A coolant leak discovered in December 2022 changed the return plan: NASA and Roscosmos kept MS-22 available only as a contingency craft and launched Soyuz MS-23 uncrewed as the replacement return vehicle. Soyuz MS-22 undocked and landed in Kazakhstan without its crew on March 28, 2023, while Prokopyev, Petelin, and Rubio remained aboard the station and later returned on Soyuz MS-23.
