Soyuz T-10A

Soyuz T-10A, also called Soyuz T-10-1, was intended to carry Vladimir Titov and Gennadi Strekalov to Salyut 7. During the September 26, 1983 countdown at Baikonur Site 1/5, a booster fuel leak ignited about 90 seconds before liftoff. Ground controllers triggered the launch escape system by radio after command cables burned through; it pulled the crew module away seconds before the launch vehicle exploded. The descent module landed about four kilometers from the pad, and both cosmonauts survived.
