Soyuz T-11

Soyuz T-11 was the Soviet-Indian Interkosmos visiting mission to Salyut 7. Yuri Malyshev, Gennadi Strekalov, and Rakesh Sharma launched from Baikonur Site 31/6 on April 3, 1984 and docked with Salyut 7 the following day. Sharma's participation made him the first Indian citizen in space, and ISRO's Human Space Flight Centre summarizes his work aboard the station as scientific and technical sessions focused especially on bio-medicine and remote sensing. The launch crew did not return in the same spacecraft. After a week aboard Salyut 7, Malyshev, Strekalov, and Sharma undocked in Soyuz T-10 and landed on April 11, 1984. Soyuz T-11 remained docked as the return vehicle for the resident Salyut 7 crew of Leonid Kizim, Vladimir Solovyov, and Oleg Atkov. On October 2, 1984, Soyuz T-11 brought Kizim, Solovyov, and Atkov back to Earth at the end of their long-duration expedition. This record therefore models both the April 1984 Soviet-Indian launch crew and the October 1984 return crew, with crew roles noting which spacecraft each group used for landing.
