Soyuz T-14 launched the final crewed Salyut 7 expedition and completed the crew rotation that began with the Soyuz T-13 repair mission. Vladimir Vasyutin, Georgi Grechko, and Aleksandr Volkov launched from Baikonur on September 17, 1985 UTC and docked with Salyut 7 the next day. After a short handover, Grechko returned to Earth on Soyuz T-13 with Vladimir Dzhanibekov, while Vasyutin and Volkov remained aboard with Viktor Savinykh. The resident crew was expected to continue Salyut 7 operations after the station had been revived by Dzhanibekov and Savinykh earlier in the year. The mission included station maintenance, research, and logistics work after Progress and Kosmos support flights, but the expedition was cut short when Vasyutin became seriously ill. Soyuz T-14 returned Vasyutin, Volkov, and Savinykh to Earth on November 21, 1985, ending Salyut 7's last completed long-duration crewed stay and leaving the program on the edge of the transition to Mir.
