Soyuz T-9

Soyuz T-9 carried Vladimir Lyakhov and Aleksandr Pavlovich Aleksandrov to the second resident expedition aboard Salyut 7. The crew launched from Baikonur Site 1/5 on June 27, 1983, docked with Salyut 7 the next day, and worked aboard the station through November. Their mission dealt with a complex Salyut 7 configuration that included Kosmos 1443 cargo transfer, Progress support, spacecraft repositioning, station power and propulsion concerns, and external repair work. Lyakhov commanded the flight while Aleksandrov served as flight engineer. In November 1983 they performed two EVAs to install additional solar-array panels on Salyut 7, helping recover station power margin after earlier repair plans had been disrupted. Soyuz T-9 undocked and landed on November 23, 1983 after nearly 150 days in space.
