Soyuz TM-1 was the uncrewed orbital test of the upgraded Soyuz-TM transport spacecraft for the Mir program. Launched from Baikonur Site 1/5 on May 21, 1986, the spacecraft demonstrated the new Kurs automatic rendezvous system, docked with Mir on May 23, remained attached for six days, and returned safely to Earth on May 30.
