Soyuz TM-3

Soyuz TM-3 was a Soviet visiting mission to Mir and the first crewed flight involving the Soyuz TM spacecraft with an international research cosmonaut aboard. Aleksandr Viktorenko, Aleksandr Pavlovich Aleksandrov, and Syrian research cosmonaut Muhammed Faris launched from Baikonur on July 22, 1987 and docked with Mir two days later. Viktorenko and Faris returned on Soyuz TM-2 with Aleksandr Laveykin after a week-long visit, while Aleksandrov stayed aboard Mir as Yuri Romanenko's new flight engineer and later returned in the Soyuz TM-3 spacecraft in December.
