Soyuz TM-5

Soyuz TM-5 was a Soviet Soyuz mission to Mir that launched Anatoly Solovyev, Viktor Savinykh, and Bulgarian research cosmonaut Aleksandar Aleksandrov from Baikonur on June 7, 1988. After docking with Mir two days later, the visiting crew worked with the resident Mir EO-3 crew and supported the Bulgarian Shipka research program, including astronomy, Earth observation, materials-science, medicine, and biology experiments. Solovyev, Savinykh, and Aleksandrov returned to Earth on Soyuz TM-4 on June 17, while Soyuz TM-5 remained docked as a station transport spacecraft and later returned Vladimir Lyakhov and Abdul Ahad Mohmand in September after a delayed deorbit sequence.
