Soyuz TMA-14 launched from Baikonur Site 1/5 on March 26, 2009 and docked with the International Space Station on March 28. The spacecraft carried Gennady Padalka, Michael Barratt, and U.S. spaceflight participant Charles Simonyi for the Expedition 19 handover. Padalka and Barratt remained aboard for long-duration station work as the ISS moved toward six-person crew operations, while Simonyi returned to Earth on Soyuz TMA-13 with the departing Expedition 18 crew in April 2009. Soyuz TMA-14 later landed north-northeast of Arkalyk on October 11, 2009 with Padalka, Barratt, and Guy Laliberte.
