Soyuz TMA-16M launched from Baikonur Site 1/5 on March 27, 2015 UTC and docked with the International Space Station on March 28. The spacecraft carried Roscosmos commander Gennady Padalka, Roscosmos flight engineer Mikhail Kornienko, and NASA flight engineer Scott Kelly to the station for Expeditions 43 and 44, beginning the nearly year-long mission for Kelly and Kornienko. Soyuz TMA-16M was relocated from Poisk to Zvezda on August 28, 2015 to prepare for later visiting-crew traffic. It undocked and landed on September 12, 2015 UTC with Padalka, ESA astronaut Andreas Mogensen, and Kazakh cosmonaut Aydyn Aimbetov, while Kelly and Kornienko remained aboard the ISS and returned on Soyuz TMA-18M in March 2016.
