Soyuz TMA-5 was a crew transport flight to the International Space Station. It launched from Baikonur on October 14, 2004 with Salizhan Sharipov, Leroy Chiao, and Yuri Shargin, docking with the ISS two days later as Expedition 10 arrived to replace Expedition 9. Shargin returned after the handover on Soyuz TMA-4, while Soyuz TMA-5 remained docked as the Expedition 10 lifeboat. The spacecraft undocked and landed in Kazakhstan on April 24, 2005 UTC, returning Sharipov, Chiao, and ESA astronaut Roberto Vittori after the Eneide visiting mission.
