STS-102 was a March 2001 Space Shuttle Discovery mission to the International Space Station and the first station expedition crew rotation by shuttle. James Wetherbee commanded the flight, James Kelly served as pilot, and Andrew Thomas and Paul Richards were the base shuttle mission specialists. Discovery also carried Expedition 2 crew members Yury Usachov, James Voss, and Susan Helms to the station, then returned Expedition 1 crew members William Shepherd, Yuri Gidzenko, and Sergei Krikalev to Earth. The mission delivered Leonardo, the first Italian Space Agency-built Multi-Purpose Logistics Module to fly to the ISS, along with supplies and equipment for the new Destiny laboratory. The crew completed two spacewalks during the mission, one by Voss and Helms and one by Thomas and Richards, while Discovery remained docked to the station. STS-102 launched from LC-39B on March 8, 2001, and landed at Kennedy Space Center's Shuttle Landing Facility on March 21 after 12 days, 19 hours, and 49 minutes.
