STS-117

STS-117 was a Space Shuttle Atlantis mission to the International Space Station that carried the S3/S4 truss segment and a new set of solar arrays for the station's starboard side. Frederick Sturckow commanded the flight, with Lee Archambault as pilot and mission specialists James Reilly, Steven Swanson, Patrick Forrester, John Olivas, and Clayton Anderson on the launch crew. The mission also completed an ISS crew exchange: Anderson stayed aboard as an Expedition 15 flight engineer, while Sunita Williams returned to Earth on Atlantis after her long-duration station assignment. Across four spacewalks, the crew helped install and activate the new truss and arrays, supported retraction work on the P6 solar array, and assisted recovery work during a Russian-segment computer problem before Atlantis landed safely at Edwards Air Force Base.
