STS-127 was a Space Shuttle Endeavour mission to the International Space Station that completed major external assembly work for Japan's Kibo laboratory complex. Endeavour delivered the Kibo Exposed Facility and Experiment Logistics Module Exposed Section, giving the station a platform for experiments exposed directly to space. The crew also transferred spare parts and equipment, supported five mission spacewalks, and rotated station crew members: Timothy Kopra joined Expedition 20 after launching with STS-127, while Koichi Wakata returned to Earth after his long-duration stay. Endeavour launched from Kennedy Space Center's Launch Pad 39A on July 15, 2009, and landed at the Shuttle Landing Facility on July 31 after 15 days, 16 hours, 44 minutes, and 58 seconds in flight.
