STS-128 was a Space Shuttle Discovery mission to the International Space Station and the 30th Shuttle flight dedicated to ISS assembly and maintenance. Discovery carried the Leonardo Multi-Purpose Logistics Module with science, storage, and life-support racks, plus the Lightweight Multi-Purpose Experiment Support Structure Carrier in the payload bay. The crew transferred more than 18,000 pounds of cargo, delivered a new ammonia tank assembly, returned a depleted tank and external experiments, and supported three EVAs during docked operations. The flight also exchanged long-duration station crew members: Nicole Stott launched with Discovery to join Expedition 20, while Timothy Kopra returned to Earth after his Expedition 20 increment. Discovery launched from Kennedy Space Center's Launch Pad 39A on August 28, 2009, and landed at Edwards Air Force Base on September 11 after 13 days, 20 hours, 53 minutes, and 45 seconds in flight.
