STS-41D

STS-41D was the first flight of Space Shuttle Discovery. Henry Hartsfield, Michael Coats, Judith Resnik, Richard Mullane, Steven Hawley, and Charles Walker launched from Launch Complex 39A on August 30, 1984, deployed SBS-D, Syncom IV-2, and Telstar 3-C, operated the OAST-1 solar array experiment and McDonnell Douglas electrophoresis hardware, and landed at Edwards Air Force Base on September 5.
