STS-82

STS-82 was Space Shuttle Discovery's second Hubble Space Telescope servicing mission. Launched from Launch Complex 39A on February 11, 1997, the crew rendezvoused with Hubble, secured it in Discovery's payload bay, and completed a major maintenance and upgrade campaign. Five spacewalks installed new scientific instruments, replaced key support hardware, added insulation repairs, and prepared the telescope for continued operations. Discovery redeployed Hubble in a higher orbit and landed at Kennedy Space Center's Shuttle Landing Facility on February 21.
