TANSEI (MS-T1)
TANSEI (MS-T1) was Japan's first Mu-series test satellite, built by the Institute of Space and Astronautical Science to verify the M-4S rocket and conduct post-insertion spacecraft-environment and systems tests. It was Japan's second satellite after OHSUMI.

- TANSEI (MS-T1) was Japan's first Mu-series test satellite, built by the Institute of Space and Astronautical Science to verify the M-4S rocket and conduct post-insertion spacecraft-environment and systems tests. It was Japan's second satellite after OHSUMI.

- Successful. Launched on 16 February 1971, TANSEI entered its planned near-circular orbit. During 96 revolutions through 23 February, all onboard instruments except the solar-battery performance checker functioned normally; telemetry, command, data-recorder, thermal/environment, and attitude tests met expectations, yielding abundant engineering data.
