Tiangong-2 Space Laboratory
Tiangong-2 Space Laboratory was China’s first full space laboratory and a China Manned Space Program mission. Launched on September 15, 2016 aboard Long March 2F T2 from Jiuquan, it supported two astronauts for a 30-day stay, Shenzhou-11 and Tianzhou-1 dockings, life-support and propellant-transfer validation, repair and future-station technology tests, and more than 60 science and technology experiments before controlled reentry in 2019.

- Successful space-laboratory mission. Tiangong-2 became China’s first full space laboratory, completing four rendezvous and dockings with Shenzhou-11 and Tianzhou-1, supporting two astronauts for a 30-day stay, and validating medium-duration crew residence and in-orbit propellant refuelling. It carried 14 utilization payloads totaling about 600 kg and more than 60 space-science and technology experiments, including the world’s first orbital cold-atom clock and the POLAR gamma-ray-burst polarization instrument. After extended operations, Tiangong-2 completed controlled reentry over the South Pacific on 19 July 2019, closing the space-laboratory phase of China’s crewed-space program.
