TRACE

TRACE was a NASA solar observatory that imaged fine magnetic structures from the photosphere through the transition region and corona. Its high-resolution, multi-temperature observations connected small-scale magnetic evolution with the larger plasma loops and eruptions of the Sun's upper atmosphere.

Outcome
TRACE completed more than twelve years of solar observations and imaged an entire activity cycle from maximum through minimum. It returned millions of images, including early detailed views of fine coronal-loop structure and solar moss, before taking its final image on June 21, 2010.
