The Academy of Model Aeronautics (AMA) is a U.S. 501(c)(3) nonprofit national organization for model aviation, founded in 1936 and headquartered in Muncie, Indiana. AMA promotes, develops, educates, advances, and safeguards aeromodeling through safety standards, member and club support, national and international competition, technical and scientific development, youth and STEM education, flight sites, publications, and representation before aviation regulators. Its current work includes 2026 national aeromodeling championships, model-aircraft safety and remote-ID guidance, AMA education and flight-school programs, UAS4STEM, the Model Aviation publication, and the International Aeromodeling Center and National Model Aviation Museum.
