ASTM International is a Pennsylvania nonprofit standards-development organization formed in 1898 as the American Society for Testing and Materials. Its global consensus process convenes more than 35,000 members across 150 countries and more than 150 technical committees to develop and deliver voluntary standards, test methods, certification, proficiency testing, training, and technical publications across materials, products, systems, and services. Its aerospace-relevant work includes standards for aircraft and spacecraft, aerospace materials, additive manufacturing, aviation workforce, and safety, quality, and compliance. ASTM committees, individual standards, subsidiaries, the ASTM Foundation, local chapters, affiliates, and member companies remain distinct identities.
