Astronomical Society of Australia

The Astronomical Society of Australia (ASA) is Australia’s incorporated national professional society for astronomy and closely related sciences. Formed in 1966 and incorporated in the Australian Capital Territory in 1993, it advances astronomical research, professional practice, education, public understanding, and the interests of Australian astronomers. ASA convenes an annual scientific meeting and the Harley Wood School for postgraduate astronomers, publishes the refereed Publications of the Astronomical Society of Australia, supports students and early-career researchers through grants and prizes, develops national science priorities and policy positions, and coordinates specialist groups spanning theoretical astrophysics, planetary science, time-domain astronomy, astroparticle physics, education and outreach, equity, and Australian astronomy history.
