The Coordination Group for Meteorological Satellites (CGMS) is an international coordination group of operational and research-and-development space agencies and satellite operators. It coordinates meteorological, oceanographic, and environmental satellite systems, including continuity planning, data access, user support, protection of in-orbit assets, frequency coordination, and space-weather work. EUMETSAT has served as the permanent Secretariat since 1987; the Secretariat-hosting relationship is preserved without inferring a separate legal personality.
