The Japan Association of Rocketry (JAR) is a certified nonprofit organization promoting safe model rocketry and hands-on space education in Japan. Founded in 1990 and certified as an NPO in 2004, it helped establish a lawful national framework for model-rocket engines and developed operator qualifications aligned with Japanese explosives regulations and international space-modelling practice. JAR runs training and licensing, maintains safety and technical guidance, supports schools and hobbyists, and organizes national competitions and youth rocketry programs.
