The National Institute of Aerospace (NIA) is an independent nonprofit research, graduate-education, and outreach institute established in 2002 in collaboration with NASA's Langley Research Center and leading aerospace universities. From its Hampton headquarters, NIA conducts aerospace, atmospheric-science, and space-exploration research with government, academic, and industry partners; operates collaborative research laboratories and technology-development programs; delivers multi-university graduate education; and runs continuing-education and STEM outreach that advances aerospace knowledge and engineering capability.
