New Zealand Rocketry Association

The New Zealand Rocketry Association (NZRA) is a volunteer nonprofit community organization for safe, legal model, high-power, and advanced amateur rocketry. Based in Auckland and supporting groups and activities across New Zealand, it provides launch operations, low- and high-power memberships, three-level high-power certification, mentoring, safety guidance, competitions, public events, and practical aerospace education for schools and community groups. New Zealand civil-aviation rules formally recognize the model-rocketry safety code approved by NZRA, while current aeronautical information identifies the association as the operating authority for two model-rocketry danger areas. NZRA remains active through current launches, certifications, education, and technical projects; in April 2025 its members launched Meraki II past the Kármán line to 121.589 kilometres, the first successful amateur space shot outside the United States.
