Open Lunar Foundation

Open Lunar Foundation is a U.S. 501(c)(3) nonprofit space organization founded by a global community to enable a peaceful, cooperative, and sustainable human presence on the Moon. Its organization-level work combines lunar governance, policy, technical research, standards, open data, infrastructure, and stakeholder coordination: it commissions research, prototypes shared tools and protocols, supports fellowships, convenes experts, and develops projects such as the Lunar Ledger, designated-lunar-area frameworks, dust-mitigation work, and lunar positioning, navigation, and timing. Current activity includes 2026 lunar-scenario simulations and continuing work with the United Nations Committee on the Peaceful Uses of Outer Space, alongside a global community of astronauts, scientists, engineers, lawyers, entrepreneurs, and policy specialists. The separately named Lunar Ledger project, fellows, advisors, companies, agencies, universities, facilities, and events remain distinct resources.
