The Sociedade Brasileira de Medicina Aeroespacial (SBMA) is Brazil's nonprofit professional and scientific society for aviation and space medicine. Reconstituted in 1989 from earlier Brazilian aviation-medicine bodies, it connects physicians, other health professionals, aircrew, aviation workers, safety and accident-investigation specialists, regulators, educators, and researchers. SBMA advances aeromedical and space-health knowledge through scientific exchange, professional education, national certification activity, conferences, research communication, human-factors and flight-safety work, and guidance on the health of crews, passengers, patients, and spaceflight participants.
