South African Hang Gliding and Paragliding Association

The South African Hang Gliding and Paragliding Association is a national nonprofit aviation-recreation organization for hang gliding, paragliding, paramotoring, and paratriking. Incorporated in 2005 and approved by the South African Civil Aviation Authority under Part 149, SAHPA maintains operational and safety procedures, supports pilot licensing and legal compliance, records accidents and rescues, administers national competition and team systems, coordinates flying-site and airspace matters, and represents participating pilots. It is a chapter of the Aero Club of South Africa and is affiliated internationally through the Fédération Aéronautique Internationale.
