TÜBİTAK UZAY is the Space Technologies Research Institute of Türkiye’s Scientific and Technological Research Council, based on the Middle East Technical University campus in Ankara. Its work combines satellite design, spacecraft equipment, assembly, integration and testing, ground operations and Earth-observation applications. The institute traces its origins to an electronics research institute established in 1985 and adopted the UZAY name in 2006. Its spacecraft heritage includes BİLSAT, RASAT, GÖKTÜRK-2, İMECE and the TÜRKSAT 6A communications satellite. Current development spans the Tstar family of low-Earth-orbit, geostationary and deep-space platforms, electric propulsion, optical systems and onboard equipment. It also supports Türkiye’s lunar research and human-spaceflight science work. UZAY is an institute within TÜBİTAK, distinct from the parent council and from the Turkish Space Agency.
