Aditya-L1 is the Indian Space Research Organisation’s first dedicated space-based solar observatory, launched on 2 September 2023 and inserted into its targeted halo orbit around the Sun–Earth L1 point on 6 January 2024. Its seven payloads observe the photosphere, chromosphere, corona, solar wind, and magnetic fields to advance solar physics and real-time space-weather understanding; ISRO developed five payloads and two were developed by Indian academic institutes in collaboration with ISRO.
