AKARI Program

JAXA's AKARI infrared astronomical satellite, formerly ASTRO-F, was Japan's second space mission for infrared astronomy. Launched on 22 February 2006, it surveyed the infrared sky and studied galaxy evolution, star formation, stellar evolution, and planet-forming disks before operations ended on 24 November 2011.
