Ariel Program

ESA’s Ariel (Atmospheric Remote-sensing Infrared Exoplanet Large-survey) is a planned Cosmic Vision observatory under development for a chemical census of about 1,000 exoplanet atmospheres. It will measure atmospheric composition, temperatures, clouds, and hazes to connect planetary properties with the environments in which planets form and evolve; NASA contributes the CASE instrument.
