NASA’s Astrobiology Science and Technology for Exploring Planets (ASTEP) supported investigations from 2001 through 2014 that explored Earth’s extreme environments to improve methods for searching for life on other planets. NASA combined ASTEP with the Moon and Mars Analog Mission Activities Program in 2014 to form PSTAR.
