Atmospheric Profiling Mission Program
ESA Earth Explorer research concept proposed in 1996 to observe temperature profiles through the troposphere and stratosphere for climate research. Its GPS/Galileo radio-occultation technique was thoroughly prepared and helped lead to the GRAS instruments on Eumetsat MetOp meteorological satellites and their MetOp-SG successors, while the concept itself was not selected for standalone implementation.
