BioSentinel is a completed NASA technology project centered on a six-unit CubeSat and BioSensor payload that launched as a secondary payload on Artemis I to study how deep-space radiation affects Saccharomyces cerevisiae yeast. Its microfluidics-based biosensor compares wild-type and DNA-repair-deficient yeast responses with onboard radiation measurements, supporting biological-risk assessment for long-duration human exploration beyond low Earth orbit.
