The Chinese Meridian Project is a long-term space-environment research and observing-infrastructure effort led by the National Space Science Center of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. It combines ground-based solar, interplanetary, magnetospheric, ionospheric and upper-atmosphere observations to investigate space weather and support forecasting relevant to spacecraft, communications and navigation. Construction of its first phase began in 2008 and was completed in 2012. Phase II began in 2019 and passed national acceptance on 21 March 2025, expanding the original observing chain into a network with additional stations and advanced radio, radar and lidar systems. The programme's instruments and data collections remain distinct resources. Its regional infrastructure provides a foundation for the separate International Meridian Circle Program.
