Commercial Crew Program

NASA's Commercial Crew Program partners with American industry to develop and certify transportation systems and purchase crew flights to and from low Earth orbit and the International Space Station. The companies own and operate their spacecraft and infrastructure, while NASA establishes safety requirements and works with providers through development, testing, certification, and operations. SpaceX's Dragon and Falcon 9 system supports regular station crew rotations; Boeing's Starliner is the program's other crew transportation development effort. The program helps sustain station operations and research while NASA develops deep-space exploration capabilities.
