Commercial Wind Constellation (CWCx - ACO)

Completed NASA Game Changing Development project led by Langley Research Center from 2023-04-25 to 2024-07-29. The project used three Integrated Design and Collaboration Center sessions to develop a performance model, assess satellite constellation architectures, and define an orbiting Doppler wind-lidar instrument concept for global wind profiling. Langley models estimate laser power, telescope size, constellation count, and orbit inclination needed to improve weather prediction and quantify the value of each added instrument, with potential benefits for air-transport corridors and climate and weather services.
