Deep Space Optical Communications (DSOC)

NASA TechPort describes DSOC as a completed Game Changing Development project that developed and integrated optical-communications technologies for deep-space demonstration. The project matured pointing, photon sensing, laser transmission, and supporting optical/electronic subsystems from TRL 2 to 5, targeting at least tenfold data-return capacity gains for future science and human-exploration missions.
