NASA Dust Mitigation Development is a completed Game Changing Development project advancing bearing and seal technologies for long-term operation of rotating mechanisms in lunar regolith dust. The project quantified dust infiltration and wear in simulated lunar environments, tested mitigation strategies, and developed new test capability and performance data for dust-tolerant mechanisms supporting lunar vehicles, robots, pumps, gearboxes, spacesuits, and ISRU equipment.
